“Just the Two of Us”
“Breathtaking florals, unique stationary, a beautiful cake, delicious food, killer décor and a stunning wardrobe are not affected by a global pandemic with this inspiring “Just the Two of Us” editorial!”
DreamGroup planner Chrissie Vides had a vision for a super romantic and edgy editorial and it went like…
I had such a blast directing this “Just the Two of Us” Editorial! It was a true blessing to work with the gorgeous power-couple Caelan Millar & Kassandra Patry while collaborating with some of my favorite Vancouver wedding vendors!
With all that I wanted to bring into this shoot, I knew that the location had to be fairly minimalist and super sexy at the same time! The Loft at Earls offered the PERFECT location with its white walls, black accents, and modern aesthetic – what else could a girl ask for?!
I was going for a sexy casual editorial capturing the special “moments” between a couple on their special day. I jump at the opportunity when I can collaborate with my hubby and this “Just the Two Of Us” editorial was the perfect project for us!
With all the Covid restrictions around weddings still in place, many couples are trying to determine whether they should hold out for the BIG wedding they always imagined. Or say to heck with Covid and just be married!
Check out this other awesome DreamGroup editorial Modern Gothic.
Find yourself an experienced planner who is just as excited about your union as the two of you. Then let them help you create a wedding experience that defies this time in history in the most beautiful way.
The hair and makeup vision was cool glam all the way! This is a young couple and the makeup and hair needed to be as effortlessly cool as they are. Eugenia from Makeup by Supernova is an absolute master at what she does and I was so stoked to work with her!
You can’t fake cool, nor connection and you most definitely can’t fake love. Real-life couple Caelen Millar & Kassandra Patry were introduced to me through Cinematographer Joshua Stade — a BridalStyle Vancouver colab favourite – check out his awesome capture of this editorial on the BSV Instagram). I knew right away that I had found my models!
Effortlessly Cool… CHECK Authentic Connection… CHECK! Doting Love… CHECK! And a major plus… this is one good looking couple!!! They were also tons of fun to work with!
The perfect “his + hers” rings provided by local “gem” Cavalier Gastown.
As a personal bridal stylist/shopper I am very familiar with the dress inventory in the city and the Windsor gown by Vagabond Bridal, available at Everly Fine Bridal, is literally my favorite gown in Vancouver! It’s edgy, it’s cool and it’s totally unique!
From the moment I set my eyes on this dress I knew I needed to shoot it. Now to find the perfect opportunity! When we had the perfect fitting with the breathtaking Kassandra I knew it was meant to be!
Next up was choosing the perfect accessories to compliment the perfect dress! The Jane hoop earrings from Vancouver’s Atelier Simone Martin are quite possibly my favorite accessories hands down – like period. I am a sucker for a killer pair of hoops and love a strong statement earring. I knew it needed to be a little bit bridal. The Jane hoops offered the perfect triple threat!
Guys can have fun too!
I love extremes and am a sucker for contrasting white and black when it comes to clothing! Collaborating with Black & Lee was a no-brainer as they have the best selection of tuxedo suits in the city! I immediately fell in love with this all white (with a pop of black) masterpiece.
Modern, clean and yes black and white was the vision for the stationery and Amari of Making Memories Stationery brought it to life in the most incredibly instinctive way.
Continuing with the white and black theme, I wanted a cake that was edgy yet fun and the uber talented Dalana of Cake and Giraffe knew what was needed to hit it out the park!
I knew I couldn’t take my foot off the gas pedal when it came to décor and Vivian from Bespoke Decor really guided me in finding the perfect way to keep everything in line for my edgy, sexy, cool vibe.
This couple exuded such cool vibes all on their own. I knew I needed to include that extra something that would bring the editorial to the next level. The 3 pink heart neon signs from Steveston Creative was the cherry on top!! Truly the magic ingredient that brought it all together!
Final thoughts…
Bigger isn’t always better and the most important people at your wedding are just the two of you! Covid doesn’t need to stop you from having a completely fabulous wedding!
