A Family Romance at UBC Boathouse

In this post pandemic time, we planners are pretty close to wrapping up the pre-pandemic relationships developed and clients supported over the past 4 years with this very special love story being one of them! Multiple postponements, a medical degree, a baby named Mai, and two moves to California and then Miami later, the journey to the aisle for Michelle & Seth (and baby Mai) was one filled with great adventure! DreamGroup planner Jill Bryan supported this romantic and emotional celebration we call A Family Romance at UBC Boathouse.

What was the overall feeling of this wedding?

Modern Romance… and both families showed so much love and support for these two! It was quite emotional. Probably because they have come so far and everyone was just so happy to finally get to see these two be married!

Wedding Highlights

I booked this wedding in 2019! With 2 covid postponements, additional delays due to the groom finishing Med School, welcoming their gorgeous daughter Mai, and moving to California and most recently Miami it was about time this wedding happened!! I loved their tablescape which was super fresh, airy, and beautiful! They had a traditional chinese menu provided by Fortune Terrace Restaurant which was really well presented and received. ~ Jill Bryan

Da Fiori Design created the most beautiful bouquet for Michelle! It was asymmetrical and airy featuring gorgeous ruffled roses in pinks, creams and whites and trailing Phalaenopsis orchids.

What was the most successful part of the day?

The meal was quite impressive! Lavish trays of crab and lobster served family style were a highlight! We had quite a tight timeline with 1st dance, cake cutting, performances by family, and working around a sleeping baby (daughter Mai), but we made magic happen and managed to fit it all in prior to the photographer’s end time. Phew!
