Mi Vuoi Sposare?
Mikaela and Matthew chose to honour their shared beliefs by having a traditional full Catholic mass for their wedding ceremony. The beautiful celebration took place at St. Augustine’s Parish in Kitsilano. This stunning venue provided the perfect backdrop for this meaningful occasion. The ceremony was followed by a decadent reception at the timeless Fairmont Hotel Vancouver. Highlights by Alexa…
Coming from European families, it was important to the couple and their families to incorporate elements that reflected their cultural backgrounds and the traditional ceremony was a deeply cherished aspect for their loved ones. Their attention to detail continued into the reception, where they thoughtfully infused Italian influences into the menu. Guests were offered a taste of their cultural roots. Each guest received a custom bottle of olive oil as a wedding favour, a nod to Mikaela’s Italian heritage. The couple’s wedding party added an extra layer of fun and energy to the celebration! Their enthusiasm and unwavering support helped ensure everything ran smoothly. This allowed Mikaela and Matthew to fully enjoy their special day without any worries. The camaraderie and positive energy created an atmosphere of happiness, making the entire experience a delight to be a part of.

Overall Wedding Theme and Design
Mikaela and Matthew were inspired by the Hotel Vancouver’s stunning architectural aesthetic and wanted to complement its vibe with their wedding décor. To achieve this, they embraced a sophisticated gold and white colour palette, which perfectly matched the opulence of the venue. Their choice of décor featured lush white florals delicately accented with pops of greenery, creating an elegant look that felt both timeless and luxurious. Adding to the romantic ambiance, the room was adorned with glass candleholders and striking candelabras, each casting a soft glow across the ballroom. As guests looked across the ballroom, they were greeted with a mesmerizing sea of glittering candlelight that complimented the gold accents, creating a magical atmosphere. The carefully curated décor, with its blend of elegance and warmth, truly made the room shine, elevating the entire celebration to a level of sophistication and beauty that left a lasting impression on everyone in attendance.

What was the most successful part of the day?
Mikaela and Matthew were determined to have a packed dance floor that would keep the energy high all night long! To bring this vision to life, we hired Michael from About Town Entertainment. He has an awesome ability to read the crowd and keep the dance floor engaging. I knew Michael was the perfect choice to ensure their guests would be dancing from the first song to the very last. As the evening drew to a close, and the final song played, the dance floor was still full with guests, reluctant to let the night end. Mikaela and Matthew’s wish for an unforgettable celebration with a vibrant, party-like atmosphere was more than fulfilled. Thanks to Michael’s exceptional talent and the couple’s vision, their wedding reception was a night to remember, leaving everyone with memories of an extraordinary evening filled with music, laughter, and nonstop dancing.

What did you learn Alexa?
Due to the extensive logistics involved, this particular wedding was a valuable lesson in time management and the importance of carefully coordinating the right amount of support to ensure seamless execution across different venues. With events taking place at both the church and hotel, it was crucial to keep everything running on time. We were fortunate to have MV Décor as our dedicated décor and floral team. Their efficiency and expertise allowed us to focus on the ceremony without worrying about the reception décor. By the time we returned to the hotel, their hard work meant much of the decor was beautifully arranged. This allowed us to quickly assess the setup and make final adjustments. I think one specific learning is that you can’t place enough value on having “designated people” at each of the venues to streamline the process, ensuring even smoother transitions and more immediate attention to any arising needs.
