When Love Becomes Art at The Polygon
Megan and Cam wanted an elegant, clean, chic, art-forward wedding and with the help of DreamGroup planner Brynn Belisle and a superior team of vendors who exceeded expectations and then some, that is exactly what they had! The floral installation by Dushan Flowers was out of this world and looked like it forever belonged at The Polygon Gallery. This is one wedding that perfectly defines When Love Becomes Art at The Polygon as captured by Sara Rogers Photography.

Megan + Cameron met at university in Boston (where Cam is from and where the couple currently resides) and wanted to host their family and friends in Vancouver. Megan is from Vancouver and wanted to show off the city and all the amazing things it has to offer. With the majority of guests from out of town, Megan and Cameron booked 35 rooms at The Douglas Hotel at Parq. Family and friends arrived throughout the week and the couple was able to spend time with their guests showing them the sights.

What were the highlights of this wedding?
Hands down the large floral installation that we designed with Dushan was the Highlight! Megan & Cam wanted very purposeful “artful” florals and greenery, not just a bunch of centrepieces… We hired Dushan to create a show-stopping floral masterpiece to anchor the ceremony. It was set up on the east wall of the Seaspan Gallery and also served as a spectacular backdrop for dinner. IT WAS BREATHTAKING!

.
Megan’s brother, Evan McDougall, is an accomplished graphic designer and created all of the invitations and beautiful day of stationery for the wedding. The custom 3D printed table numbers and flower pots given to guests in the welcome bags at the hotel were also a perfect inclusion.

.
A sculptural Masterpiece created by Dushan Flowers was a jaw dropping highlight of the day! One of the most important parts of the wedding was the florals. Right from the start of the planning Megan and Cameron said they wanted the florals to be a showstopper. Whether it was the ceremony installation, floral arrangement for the Welcome area, the bar, or the guest book table, each floral piece had to be unique, unexpected and have a “wow” factor. Dushan did not disappoint! Dushan created not just one, but TWO bouquets for Megan because he wanted to make sure she LOVED her bouquet and that it was perfect.

Bespoke Decor supported the room’s design and brought the love and the muscle in flipping the Seaspan Pavilion over for the long table dinner reception.

Megan + Cameron wrote personal messages to each guest presented in envelopes and displayed on a large blackboard unit as their escort card wall. It was really cool and guests LOVED their personalized messages from the couple!

A black & white coffee table art book was used as the guestbook to be kept on the couple’s coffee table to be easily enjoyed for years to come.

Megan & Cam really wanted an impressive bar for their guests! We began with Stellar’s Jay Brut upon guest arrival and four signature cocktails (Lionsgale Mule, Morgan Creek Spicy Margarita, Hugo Spritz, and an Espresso Martini). Lavish Liquid provided on site bar services that offered something for everyone!

What was the most challenging part of this wedding plan Brynn?
Megan and Cameron had very high expectations for their wedding and I knew I had to ensure that everything went according to plan from the beginning to the very end. There were A LOT of details and I memorized each and every thing so that nothing was forgotten or was poorly executed. It was an action packed day, but worth every moment of effort because it brought such joy to a wonderful couple! Regardless of how many weddings I produce in my career, each couple’s wedding will always deserve my best attention and ability no matter how large, small, simple or complex and it’s ALWAYS worth it in the end. To see the pride and joy of the couple, their families and friends reinforces for me why I do what I do and LOVE what I do so much!

Needless to day, with all those incredible cocktails and wine options available at the bar, guests were feeling no pain by the time they hit the dance floor! And hit the dance floor hard they did! I knew that Michael of About Town Entertainment was the only DJ to bring them the party that they wanted. He totally connected with the couple and loved all their song choices. Michael ROCKED the dance floor! I’ve never seen a dance floor start this full and stay this full all night! It was a perfect fit.

What was the most successful part of the day?
We accomplished everything we set out to do, and for the most part on time, which I consider a great success! Also, the floral and decor was not only exactly what Megan + Cameron wanted, but was more than they expected! They were absolutely wowed by everything AND were so grateful, appreciative, and thankful to have me by their side. I don’t think I’ve ever received that many thank you’s from a couple AND their family and friends. A really special group for sure that I will remember for years to come!

Wow Brynn. What a wedding. We are smiling every time we think about it – and for once we are totally at a loss for words. How do we even begin to thank you. You are such a special, good-to-the-core person and a beautiful, gentle soul – not to mention so FUN! You’ve touched our lives in such a meaningful way. We are incredibly grateful for you and forever your # 1 fans!
Your contribution in making our day so special can NOT be overstated. From the start, you made us feel so comfortable and you helped us hone our vision into a reality which turned out better than we expected. You did the impossible – you made wedding planning FUN. You were there for every decision, helping guide us, and centering us toward our original vision. Your knowledge and coordination with our vendors to get us exactly what we wanted meant so much to us. Dushan, that floral piece of art, Oh.My.Goodness. – it was so beautiful and brought the room to life. The chairs…were PERFECT (haha). Lucky Booth, those photos are amazing and the live-stream was so special for family/friends unable to attend in person. The table settings, the backlighting, the DJ (oh my god – the DJ! You were absolutely right – Michael is incredible), the food (Peake! Yum!), the list goes on… You made all of these things happen for us and you did it seamlessly. Your vendor recommendations were always spot on. You had thought of everything, often before we even knew to think about it! You calmed our nerves, talked us down off (many) ledges, and answered all of our annoying emails/texts with compassion, patience and understanding (responding in no more than 2.5 seconds – HOW DO YOU DO IT?!) We are sure you put out a million fires for us and helped us in more ways than we even know about!
You truly listened to our priorities and made them your priorities, and for that we can’t thank you enough. We feel so lucky to have had you as our partner in making this dream day/weekend happen. Your attention to detail and ability to communicate were exactly what we needed when trying to plan a wedding from across the continent. You are organized, knowledgeable, kind and so incredibly talented at what you do. We felt like you wanted our day to be as special as we wanted it to be and that gave us such peace of mind. So thank you, Brynn, for making our wedding weekend the best of our lives.
With love, admiration, and gratitude,
Cam & Megan
