Chicken on the Beach

 In Branding, Media

When one thinks of a true west coast wedding your mind immediately goes to a classic garden tented affair with views of the Pacific Ocean in the background.  With its elegant outdoor ceremony setting and romantic beachfront tent, there are few venues that check the boxes like Brock House does!  Join us as we revisit Lexy and Quintin’s quintessential west coast wedding with a dash of humour and nostalgic buckets of KFC.  We give you Chicken on the Beach as lovingly and meticulously planned with DreamGroup planner Brynn Belisle and as beautifully documented by the talented Amy Teixeira

First Look with Dad!

Adding the finishing touches…

First look for Quintin and Lexy…

“I cannot say enough good things about Brynn! She planned our July 2023 wedding and did the most amazing job! When we initially found Brynn I thought she would help us pick out a few things and get us set up for the day, but she did so much more than that. She was our rock through the entire planning process. She knew who we needed to have as vendors, what was worth investing in, where the best spots were, how to deal with so many personalities, and literally everything about having an amazing party.

Any issue that came up felt like a non-issue because I knew she had it. It feels odd to even write a review about her on Google, because I truly felt like she was a family member throughout this entire process. The only thing about working with her that I’m not thrilled about, is that I don’t have a reason to call her anymore!

If you are looking for a wedding planner she is your girl, and if you are wondering if the full planning is worth the money… I cannot yell it loud enough, it was easily the best money we spent on the entire wedding!”

GORGEOUS florals by Ruffled Rose Co.

Pretty & Romantic were the keywords here as we developed the look and feel for the wedding. We worked with the impressive Haley & her team from Ruffled Rose who helped us bring to life Lexy’s vision for the most dreamy and romantic theme. And gosh was it “oh-so-pretty” with pastel flowers everywhere (light blues, lavender, light pink and creams), damask cream table linens, pastel coloured taper candles, twinkly glass votives with a touch of gold to complete the look. There were two tall floral structures created to flank the ceremony altar which we repurposed to the entry of the Conservatory afterwards so everyone could continue to enjoy the flower design throughout the night!  Overall the entire wedding was soooooooo pretty and romantic – exactly what Lexy had dreamed of!

Chicken Crisis Averted!!

One of the fun extras the couple was most looking forward to was the plan to have KFC offered as the late night snack!  We pre-ordered the chicken through Door Dash.  On the night of the wedding, however, we received a message at 9:50pm (10 minutes before the scheduled delivery time) that Door Dash had cancelled the order!!!  We knew Lexy would be super disappointed because this was such a fun moment she had been looking forward to!  Lexy’s grandfather was the first holder of a KFC franchise in BC.  She loved the idea of including him in the night in this special way.  So, we decided we had to still try and make it happen!

Wedding Planner to the rescue!  We jumped online, found a location that was still open, drove 20 minutes to the restaurant, waited 45 minutes for the order, jumped back in the car and ran into the Kitchen’s side door to get it ready.  We had hired an actor to play “the Colonel” to add some colour and fun to the late-night snack experience!  The guests thought it was hilarious and had a lot of fun taking photos with him!  Lexy was relieved and thrilled that we were able to pull this off for her and their guests!  Lexy and the Colonel ended up dancing for most of the presentation while guests enjoyed the fare. A bit later than we would have liked, but who doesn’t love buckets of KFC chicken at 12:30am after hours of drinking and dancing?!

It was a HUGE hit and I’m so happy we were able to adapt, adjust, and make this happen for Lexy!

What was the BEST part Brynn?

I’d say the whole KFC / Colonel presentation. And, the overall look of the wedding and the location was so on point. Lexy & Quintin couldn’t believe how beautiful it all was and they were so excited to get married and spend the day with their family and friends. It truly was a perfect day and a client I will remember for many years to come.
