Family First ~ The Mertin Bunch
Weddings like the one Rachelle and Paul hosted stick out in your mind and stay with you long after the wedding. When bringing together two people who also happen to have children from a previous relationship there are many ways to acknowledge the moment and make the wedding feel special and inclusive. Rachelle and Paul made a deliberate effort to demonstrate to their children that in marrying each other they were uniting not just themselves in marriage, but also creating a family unit that would become stronger and better together. Enjoy the moments of Family First as captured by the talented Amber Hughes and as planned with heart by our Olivia Woolwich.

What were the highlights for you Olivia?
Rachelle and Paul are a super fun couple and theirs was a very fun wedding as a result. The bride hired a tattoo artist to surprise the groom with matching tattoos. That was a first for me! We rented an all white bouncy house and had a roaming magician which added to the playful vibes and guests loved it!

It’s time for the FUN!
A tent is never just a tent… they come in all shapes, sizes, heights, qualities and designs! Shane and his team at Elevation Tents never dissapoint!
Beholden Event Design elevated the vibe in the most perfect way! And the gorgeous white bouncy castle from The Bounce House Co. was a total hit!
Were there any challenges with this wedding? If so, how did you overcome them?
Every wedding has challenges to overcome and that’s why I’m involved! With any Home Wedding plan there’s so much more to consider and plan for. Power is a HUGE one and is often underestimated! If the property is not already set up with an extensive power source we often need to bring in generators. In this case, Rachelle and Paul had recently landscaped their property and installed ample outdoor power which worked out well for the wedding power needed! Between the catering, the tent lighting, the bouncy castle, and DJ power needs we had to ensure we were prepared!
.
Another important area that required extra attention on my part was with the catering. Although the food was totally delicious and perfect for the style of wedding Rachelle and Paul wanted, they were not a full service catering company. As a result, I had to order and manage the rentals and ensure that we had enough of everything to maintain a smooth and enjoyable service experience for all. It worked out well in the end and the food was very well received!
