Floating Blooms at the Paradox Hotel

 In Branding, Media

The Paradox Hotel in downtown Vancouver was the perfect location for Melissa and Brandon’s super chic and romantic summer wedding.  With most guests coming from out of town it was a treat for guests to be able to celebrate in the same spot they would later lay their heads at the end of an exciting and busy day!  Join us as we revisit Floating Blooms at the Paradox Hotel as beautifully captured by Jo & Glo and planned with love by Brynn Belisle

The Ketubah Signing & Ceremony

The Ketubah signing ceremony is a Jewish wedding ritual where the couple and witnesses sign the ketubah, or marriage contract. It’s a time to celebrate the couple’s love and commitment, and to solidify their marriage covenant.

What happens during the ceremony?

  • The couple and witnesses sign the Ketubah.
  • The ketubah is often read aloud.
  • The ketubah is given to the bride or her mother to keep safe.

Who Attends?

  • The couple, their close friends, and other family members.
  • The witnesses must be halakhically valid, which means they can’t be blood relatives of the couple.

What is the Ketubah?

  • The Ketubah is a legal document that outlines the couple’s promises to each other
  • It’s similar to a prenuptial agreement, but it’s not legally binding in the same way
  • The traditional text outlines the husband’s financial obligations, but modern couples may write their own.

Why is it important?

  • The ketubah signing is a meaningful ritual that validates the couple’s marriage.
  • It’s a time to celebrate the couple’s love and commitment.

The event flow of this wedding was refreshingly different.  As guests arrived they were greeted with a lovely cocktail reception featuring His & Hers signature cocktails (Blueberry Basil Smash & Summer Citrus Spritz) and passed canapes before heading into the ceremony.

Melissa had a vision for a “modern garden romance” vibe for their wedding.  Airy, floating pastel garden flowers adorned the clear Plexi Chuppah and lined the ceremony aisle.  Touches of black through the chairs brought a modern unexpected touch. The ceremony took place in the English Bay Room and guests were WOWED by the clear Chuppah structure adorned with airy pastel garden flowers impressively designed by Dushan Flowers and Le Marais DecorA floral masterpiece!

Black chairs from Pedersen’s Rentals brought a strategic and elegant grounding to the airy pastel design.

“Brynn was the most amazing planner we could have asked for! From the get go, she understood our vision, helped us compile the best vendors in Vancouver, and made our dream day come true. She’s kind, calm, organized, honest, detail-oriented, and (most importantly) FUN — Brynn makes the planning process feel seamless, and it shows on the day of! Easy to love, easy to work with, there’s no better person to have in your corner. Thank you so much Brynn and DreamGroup!!!!!!”

A highlight was being able to include the couple’s dog Loki in the ceremony which was very sweet!

Following the ceremony guests were welcomed back into the foyer to find glasses of bubbles displayed on a table with their name and table number on it so they could find their seat in the ballroom. It was an elegant and unexpected touch and guests seemed to love it!  All stationery exquisitely designed by Violet Grey Creative

Time for the Hora!

The guests were then ushered into the ballroom to find their seat and mingle while the couple did a few formal family photos in front of the Chuppah. We then grand entranced the couple into the ballroom and onto the dance floor where the Hora took centre stage.  EVERYONE took to the dance floor with About Town Entertainment manning the tunes for the Hora with Melissa and Brandon whisked high into the air in celebration!

The airy pastel garden vibe was continued into the ballroom with a floral-packed display around the couple on their Sweetheart Stage, a fun black & white checkerboard dance floor, and a large black statement bar – from Element Event Solutions – decorated with pastel florals.  Dusty blue linen napkins and LOTS of floating candles continued the design and completed the vision exquisitely.  Le Marais Decor knocked this one out of the park!

Guests were then treated to a delicious multi course dinner and a few short and sweet speeches before embracing the dance party!  Melissa and Brandon’s first dance, Can’t Help Falling in Love, beautifully sung by friend Gillian. This was followed by a very sweet and authentic Groom/Mother of the Groom and Bride/Mother of the Bride dance.  Next it was everyone’s turn to mix it up on the dance floor and did they ever!  And they pretty much stay there the WHOLE NIGHT!  This group loved to dance!

Guests enjoyed many libations at the bar and had lots of fun posing in the Photo Booth supported by Lucky Booth.  Later we brought out some savoury bites and Honey’s Doughnuts as the late-night snack. So yummy!

What was the most successful part of the day?

I would say the coming together of a very strong Vendor Team that knocked it out of the park!  We all had a blast working together.  And for me the nicest feedback was from many of the vendors who said how good it was to work with an experienced planner!

Brandon & Melissa fully pampered themselves on their wedding day and soaked up every special moment along they way. They had the best time with their family and friends and were so HAPPY!  It was such a fun & memorable day!
