Don’t Mehndi if “I DO”
Following a week-long celebration of their nuptials in Cabo San Lucas, Sophina & Azim returned to Vancouver to celebrate with a grand multi-day affair spanning over three days. The festivities began with a fabulous Mehndi Party at the Pan Pacific Hotel, followed by a traditional Indian Ceremony at their mosque the next day, ending with a luxurious reception at The Trump Hotel.
The mehndi party at the Pan Pacific (photo not included here) had a Middle Eastern flair with rich, vibrant shades of hot pinks, oranges and purples with touches of gold found in the beautiful flowers and décor. A glamorous mehndi station was built and draped with fabrics under which Sophina’s ladies in waiting had their mehndi done. A hot pink dance floor with a customized Arabic design was a central focal point in the room. As guests entered the reception area, they were greeted by a scene from the Taj Mahal, complete with elephants adorned with floral garlands! An amazing floor scape which depicted the reflective pool in front of the majestic building was also very impressive!
We think the playful title of this blog — Don’t Mehndi if “I DO” — is just too perfect for words!
The dinner reception at Trump was a breathtaking display of luxurious florals and elegant decor. As guests arrived, there was a grand exhibit of lavish floral arrangements and candles as they walked down an elaborately-draped hallway towards the reception area. The modern ceiling lights of the hotel were adorned with two long floral installations of hanging wisteria, creating a dramatic effect in the room. Thirty-two guest tables were embellished with tall, glamorous floral centerpieces surrounded by an array of candles and hanging crystals.
The backdrop behind the couple’s sweetheart table was a unique five-panel display, alternating a classic design with gorgeous cream-colored flowers. The custom-designed dance floor displayed the following quote selected personally by the couple: “Once upon a time there was a boy who loved a girl and her laughter was a question he wanted to spend his whole life answering.”
The best part of the day for DreamGroup Planner Jessie Kumagai (apart from the grandness and beauty that came together for Sophina and Azim) was hearing the words of gratitude expressed from the couple and the groom’s dad (who had the highest of expectations).
