HIGH-croft Expectations at Hotel Georgia

 In Branding, Media

Welcome to the beautiful wedding of Katie and Dan as photographed by the sweet Sandra of Yaletown Photography + Film. This couple celebrated their wedding at not one, but TWO very sought after Vancouver venues, Hycroft Manor & Rosewood Hotel Georgia. HIGH-croft Expectations at Hotel Georgia as planned with our Bonnie Wong.

HIGH-croft Expectations at Hotel Georgia

Hycroft Manor is really one of those really special locations in Vancouver for a dream wedding. The gorgeous Victorian style mansion & lush gardens as a backdrop for photos, as well as their unique rooms throughout, offer one of the coolest locations to photograph getting ready photos in the city.

Katie was overcome with emotion as her bridesmaids assisted her with putting on her dress and veil. All of a sudden it felt very real!

“Love grabbing these moments as they read their personal notes to one another before the ceremony, from one best friend to another.” Sandra Oh, Yaletown Photography + Film

This is the moment that defines the occasion! The exchanging of vows is the BEST part… Okay, okay, the flowers and the cake are the best part too!

Katie and Dan had been dating for ten years with much of that long distance! You can imagine that this was a most surreal and triumphant moment for them and their families to witness.

Fusing both Chinese & Korean customs was a special moment for both families. A traditional Chinese Tea Ceremony was held for Katie’s family followed by the Korean Pyebaek Ceremony for Dan’s family.

“As part of the traditional Korean Pyebaek ceremony, elders are supposed to throw dates and walnuts towards the bride and she in turn catches as many as she can. The nuts and dates are a symbol of fertility, so the trick is to catch as many as you can and that symbolizes that you’ll have a lot of kids!

I found out after the wedding that Dan’s mom had strategically hand sewn the dates and walnuts together, which resulted in Katie catching a whole lot more than usual! I guess a mother in law will go to any lengths to demonstrate that she means business when it comes to her future grandchildren!” Sandra Oh, Yaletown Photography + Film

Stunning florals provided by The Flower Factory. Décor beautifully executed by Debut Event Design.

His and Hers signature cocktails delighted guests with stationery by Le Le Chan Designs.

A very special highlight of the evening was when Katie & Dan took to the dance floor and wowed guests with a professionally choreographed first dance. Even more impressive is the fact that they had very little time to practice in person together since they live in separate cities.

Girl on Wax kept the dance floor busy all night! Gangnam Style might have been played…
