Love on The Roof

The wedding celebration of Clara + Matthew was a romantic and joyous affair that included the couple’s sweet dog Luna. Love on The Roof was beautifully captured by Dream Soda Creative as planned with our Jessie Kumagai. The wedding was held at The Roof at Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, a gorgeous recently renovated space with floor to ceiling windows offering amazing views of the city, mountains and water. The Roof offers a timeless private event space perfect for a wedding or any celebration.

The day began with a wedding photoshoot, followed by a traditional Chinese tea ceremony and family photos in the afternoon. The bride Clara changed into her white wedding gown for a late afternoon ceremony followed by cocktails, dinner and dancing.

Two weddings… Korea & Vancouver!

This was the 2nd wedding celebration for this couple. The bride is Korean, with most of her family based in Korea, while the groom is Chinese, with most of his family based in Vancouver. Clara + Matthew were married on June 28, 2020 in Korea, but unfortunately most of the groom’s family (including his parents) were unable to travel during that time due to the pandemic so they planned another celebration for those who were unable to make it to the 2020 wedding in Korea.

The couple had a lovely symbolic vow renewal ceremony which included their adorable dog Luna as the Ring Bearer.

The Vision…

The overall look and feel of the event was classic, understated elegance. The bride chose a beautiful color palette of pastel shades, including various shades of pink combined with hints of light blue (her favourite colour) and accents of peach-orange tones. Infinity Event Design did a wonderful job bringing the vision to life! The room was pre-set for dinner upon guest arrival, with two long tables down the centre of the room. These were the VIP family tables, and the dining chairs from these tables were set up in theatre-style rows for the ceremony (then later moved to the long tables for dinner). The sides of the room were set with round tables and guests enjoyed the ceremony from their seats at these tables. Since the ceremony & reception were both happening in the same room, this set-up made for a very easy ‘flip’ during cocktail hour, when we moved a few ceremony chairs back to the long tables, and placed a sweetheart table which had been pre-set and held off to the side during the ceremony.

The long tables featured tall centerpieces with candles in varying heights along the length of the table, while the round tables featured beautiful low floral centerpieces surrounded by gold votives and tall, peach-colored taper candles. Each guest setting featured a gold-beaded charger plate with a blush-peach napkin, peach-colored menus, clean & modern place cards, and a cute honey favor tied with a honey dipper. Dancing was not a part of the original plan, however, guests were excited to get on the dance floor so the always charming Joe from Van DJ Co. worked his magic!
