Holly & Ming tied the knot on a gorgeous fall day… Join us as we revisit this beautiful Autumn Romance at Cecil Green. DreamGroup planner Jessie Kumagai recalls the experience with beautiful photos by So Wedding.

1. For you, what were the highlights of this event? What did you love? What was unique?

This was an intimate & elegant daytime wedding at Cecil Green. The ceremony took place on the lawn, followed by cocktails on the terrace and a lunch reception in the Yorkeen Room. Holly & Ming live in Ottawa, but Ming’s family resides in Vancouver. Due to the pandemic, the bride’s immediate family was unable to travel from Hong Kong for the wedding. Thankfully, the bride’s high school teacher, who had become a mentor, friend, and a ‘2nd mom’ to her over the years, was able to make it. They had a very special, unique and close relationship which was a beautiful thing to see.

2. What was the theme and overall feeling of the event?

The bride’s favourite color was blue! The wedding colour palette consisted of fresh florals in pastel shades with natural greenery and light blue accents. The blue accents were also incorporated into the linens and stationery. The ceremony flowers were re-purposed in the Yorkeen Room for the lunch reception. Gorgeous florals provided by Paradise Events filled the mantle and created a sort of floral hug around the couple’s beautiful Sweetheart Table!

3. Were there any challenges that arose? If yes, how did you handle them?

No challenges on the day-of for this wedding…everything went smoothly as planned! During the planning stage, however, we unfortunately found out in the Spring that their original venue might not re-open due to the pandemic. As a result, we had to quickly find the couple another venue! Thankfully Cecil Green worked out perfectly for them.
