Happy Campers Ever After
Life is better when you’re camping was oh so true for Kirsten and Kyle this past summer. They were married at Evans Lake in beautiful British Columbia surrounded by family and friends during a weekend long celebration. There may have been no wifi, but the connection everyone felt was better than any signal one might hope for! Lose yourself in Happy Campers Ever After as supported by our Sydney Power through the lens of photo mavericks Shari + Mike.

What were the highlights of this wedding Sydney?
There were lots of logistical uncertainties with this wedding due to the unique style of venue, but boy was it fun! I’m a newfound fan of camping weddings and especially Evans Lake! My bride Kirsten DIY’d all her floral and decor and it was beautiful! She did an incredible job and even took a floral course earlier in the year to ensure she was properly prepared. My kind of girl! On the morning of the wedding I helped Kirsten design her table decor layout as she had all the pieces but wasn’t exactly sure how it would all come together on the tables. I took the reins and they were blown away with the final results! The biggest highlight for me personally was feeling so connected to the couple’s family and guests. Kirsten and Kyle are such fun laid back people and that relaxed energy transferred through to all their family and friends creating a super chill and fun vibe the entire weekend..

What was the theme and overall feeling?
70’s retro adult summer camp. Fun, playful and a damn good time is the best way to describe it! What could be better than having 100 of your best friends and family at an adult camp over a whole weekend with no outside worldly distractions! It was so fun to see how much joy and happiness all the guests felt. This wedding was all about the love!

Were there any challenges that arose?
As with any unique non-typical wedding venue there are always challenges to overcome, but the biggest one in this case was lack of wifi or phone service! This certainly made things tricky as I had no quick way to communicate with the client, vendors or my assistant apart from literally running to and from various locations on the campsite to relay updates or ensure things were getting setup as planned. Needless to say, a planner is essential for this type of venue! My hindsight 20-20 moment was in that had I realized I wouldn’t be able to use my phone at all I would have brought two way radios for better and faster communication. Let’s just say I got my steps in that weekend!
